Portable Cabins as a Camper?

The Camper Couple on Oct-20-2010

Portable cabins are prefabricated structures that are self-contained units mounted on a solid frame. Because of the structure of the cabins, it is easy to transport them from one location to another. It is not unusual for a portable cabin to be used at a campsite, by a lake, or any other setting where there is a need for some sort of shelter on a short term basis. Roomier than an average tent and easier to transport than the typical trailer, these lightweight shelters have gained a great deal of popularity in recent years.

Look at how easy these are to build one yourself for a lower cost than some trailers…Click Here!

Trailer Brakes – Electric or Surge?

The Camper Couple on Jun-8-2010

Trailer brakes are essential when towing a camper or trailer.  Because of the added weight of the trailer, the tow vehicle may require some assistance when trying to come to a stop smoothly and safely.  Trailer brakes increase the braking performance and help to reduce the chance to jackknifing your camper or trailer in an emergency stopping situation. Dreaming of an RV Life can be Fun

The Camper Couple on Apr-26-2010

Dreaming of a perfect camping trip in an RV? Or just being able to drive an RV? If so, and you don’t have an RV, rentals are easy to come across, and are affordable and easy to drive. When traveling by RV, people often ask themselves where are some of the places I would like to go? Or what are some of the places I would like to visit and see? If you are like other RV lovers, there is a good chance you will want to use your RV not to just travel but to visit friends and family that may live far away. What a great way to travel. With having your own RV you do not have to feel like you are putting them out for your visit because you have your own place to stay.
A lot of RV owners or renters use RVs to visit family and friends that live a long distance away. Of course, that is a good excuse to get on the open road and go. In fact, once you get the bug you want to do it more often. The fun of seeing family and friends is just half the fun. There is a lot to do on the way as well, so allow plenty of time for some fun stops too.
If you are a race fan, owners and renters alike do a lot of Nascar races because of how the tickets are sold. Most get a package deal that allows them to park the RV and watch the time trials and the races. All while having the best seats in the house, center stage and on top of the roof with a great view around the whole track.
Other sporting events such as football now have what they call tailgating. A group of fans that park their RVs have a gathering in parking lots dedicated for this purpose and have cook outs and just a good old time. This is like having all the comforts of home but just outside of a football game with friends and family.
With all of those fun ideas out of the way, now we can start to look at what the RVs were really made for…camping. Camping at its finest. You can go and enjoy the outdoors without having to rough it in an RV. Most people start by going to State Parks that offer RV accommodations that make it nice and simple and then venture off to the beaches of the shores to camp. When you feel very comfortable in the RV, you then can go to the wild and find your own spot out in the open of some lost wilderness and still have the comfort of home.
RVs have so many uses and, as said earlier, once you get the bug of RVing, you will wonder why you haven’t started this part of your journey in life earlier. So don’t just dream about it, go and rent one and see if this is really what people say it is…ABSOLUTELY FUN!

Research RV Parks before you Leave

The Camper Couple on Mar-18-2010

For many traveling by RV, motor home parks are their only affordable overnight accommodation option.  RV parks are similar to traditional campgrounds, but they are designed with motor homes in mind.  When compared to traditional campgrounds, RV parks often have more space.

Whether you are interested in staying at one RV Park or if you would like to stay at multiple RV parks along the way, it is important to first familiarize yourself with all of your options.  This is best done with a little bit of research.

Researching RV parks enables you to save money.  Regardless of where you travel, you will find that RV parks differ, on a number of different levels, including the prices that they charge.  Price comparison is particularly important for long distances trips.  The longer you must stay at an RV park, the more you will have to pay.

Researching RV parks is also important to get an idea of what you can expect, in terms of features.  RV travelers are urged not to make reservations at a motor home park without first knowing what they can expect to get.  For example, does the park in question have a swimming pool or a hiking trail?  What about a play ground for kids?

Speaking of kids, if you are traveling with your family, will young children be present?  If so, there are a number of additional reasons why RV parks should be closely researched and examined.  For safety, will your intended parking spot be near a lake?  If so, does your child or children know how swim?

Researching RV parks before you leave for your RV trip also gives you enough time to examine all park rules and restrictions.  Although most public RV parks will allow pets and children, not all do.  That is why it is important that you do the proper research first.  This research will allow you to first make sure that you can meet all rules and restrictions.  If not, it also gives you time to find an alternative.

Now that you know a few of the many reasons why it is important to research RV parks and public campgrounds with motor home accommodations, you may be curious as to how you can go about doing so.  The good news is that it is relatively easy to do.

Researching RV parks and public campgrounds for motor home accommodations is easy to perform on the internet.  You will want to search with the name of the park in question.  Your standard internet search should connect you to the website for that Particular Park or campground, should they have one.  Examine that website to learn as much as you can or at least get the contact information from the website.  This allows you to contact the park or campground in question to ask any additional questions that you may have.

Even if you do not have a RV park name, you can still use the internet to your advantage.  Business directories enable you to search for a business, like an RV park, in a particular area, such as a specific city and state.  You can also perform a standard internet search with a generalized phrase, such as “New York RV parks.”  Through the use of a business directory and standard internet searches, you should be able to find the online websites of multiple parks or at least the proper contact information.

As a recap, there are a number of reasons why you should take the time to research RV parks and public campgrounds with motor home accommodations.  By taking the time to do the proper amount of research, you are more likely to choose the park or campground that is the best fit for you and your needs. This will certainly make your stay more comfortable and you holiday much more enjoyable.
